Computer Forensics Unit

Computer Forensics
The Computer Forensics Unit serves as a regional law enforcement resource for internet and computer crimes in Arkansas. We specialize in the investigation of internet and computer-related crime and the forensic examination of various types of digital evidence, such as hard drives and cell phones. The unit is also available to assist the community, schools, and other organizations with internet safety presentations.

The Fort Smith Police Department and others in the region and state have combined to share resources in the battle against the online exploitation of children. Since forming the Computer Forensics Unit, we have partnered with the US Attorney’s Project Safe Childhood, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Innocent Images Task Force, the United States Secret Service (USSS), the Arkansas Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Cox Communications, and others. These organizations help provide funding, training, equipment, and other resources to the department and community. By working together we can maximize our resources and ability to protect children.
